Remember adopting a pet is saving a life. A pet is a privately-owned companion animal. Pets and animals must never be subjected to any combination of temperature and humidity for a duration that is detrimental to the animal’s health or well-being, taking into consideration such factors as the animal’s age, breed, overall health status and acclimation. Pets and animals are impacted by emergencies. It is critical to include their needs in your family’s preparedness efforts.

What is socialization?
Socialization is the process by which puppies learn the skills needed to mature into normal adult dogs. Proper puppy socialization allows puppies to learn how to explore and become accustomed to their surroundings, and it also allows them to learn how to get along with littermates, puppies from outside their litters, older dogs, other animal species and people. Only through proper socialization can puppies become loving, confident and trainable pets.
Why is Hair or Fur Important to Dog Health and Well-Being?
- It protects the skin from chemicals, bacteria, and physical injury. It also helps regulate body temperature:
- Coat glossiness reflects sunlight to aid in cooling.
- It also acts as a barrier to block wind, rain, and snow to aid in warming.
- Color, length, and density can help retain or dissipate heat.
Hair mats are commonly found under the collar, behind the ears, and in the armpits—areas where there is rubbing
Matted Hair May:
- Be painful
- Cause skin irritation
- Hide foreign bodies, such as ingrown collars
- Hide tumors, injuries, or other skin disease
- Trap foreign material such as leaves, twigs, mud, urine, or feces
- Interfere with vision, hearing, and chewing
- Interfere with urination and defecation
- Interfere with normal movement
- Interfere with temperature regulation, both cooling and warming

Several thousand years ago, humans and dogs made an emotional pact. Today, that pact of friendship is still unbroken. Whether hunting, sledging or herding, dogs have accompanied humans everywhere, from ...deserts and jungles to the ice-covered ends of the earth.
But while the dog has long embodied true friendship and boundless loyalty, only recently have we started to understand this magnificent animal. What do we really know about our four-legged friends?
"Dogs & Us - The Secret of a Friendship" tells beautiful, exciting and extraordinary real-life stories of dogs and humans around the world. From the shelter dog helping a prison inmate find courage, to the specially trained four-legged companion of a young autistic woman, to the rescue dog using smell to locate missing people. In breathtaking pictures, the documentary shows dogs' special skills and uncovers why they are essential to our society. Why can dogs communicate with us so well? How far does this understanding go? And what exactly is the secret of this wonderful friendship?

In this video I will be going over how my time has been with the Litter-Robot III Connect over the last 2 years. This will include going over my time ...with the smart litter box itself as well as the app that gives this litter box its “smarts”. I hope this video will provide more insight into what its really like to have a litter robot 3 automated litter box and provide enough knowledge on if this product is a good fit for you. Outside of the smart app functionality all other features and aspect of the Connect version of the Litter-Robot 3 apply to the normal Litter-Robot 3 automatic smart litter box.

YOU’RE DOING CAT LITTER WRONG
Litterbox success for both you & your cat depends on walking that fine line between necessity and convenience. In my (sometimes emotional) opinion we have veered ...far away from the needs of cats when it comes to both elimination convenience and territorial needs and towards our own aesthetic desires. 30 years of caring for cats and solving litterbox issues have told me that - like it or not - compromise is key.

20 Common Mistakes Cat Owners Make
In this video, we'll talk about 20 common mistakes cat owners...
In this video, we'll talk about 20 common mistakes cat owners make.
Washing their water bowl.
A cat's sense of smell is 14 times better than that of humans.
If you wash ...their water or food bowl, make sure not to use scented dishwashing liquids. Cats hate strong odors and these scents can discourage your pet from drinking water from their bowl.
Toxic houseplants
Some plants are toxic to cats.
Cats may ingest toxic plant substances while they lick themselves because there can be pollen or seeds stuck in their fur. Among the most toxic plants are daffodils, English Ivy, azaleas, Calla lilies, aloe, begonias, and ficus.
Giving bones to them
Cooked bones are a serious danger to felines because they can splinter and get stuck in a cat's throat or stomach
Essential oils and diffusers
Essential oils can be toxic to cats whether ingested orally, applied to the skin, or simply inhaled. It’s because cats lack the enzymes that are needed to metabolize essential oils properly.
Ingredients matter
Improper feeding can lead to obesity, malnutrition and many health issues. Always monitor the calories in your chosen pet food and adhere to the suggested serving sizes. According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, over 50% of dogs and cats in the US are obese or overweight.
Litter Box Mistakes
As the rule of thumb, it’s best to have at least 1.5 litter boxes per cat. So, if you have one cat, you need two litter boxes; two cats, three litter boxes. it is important to invest in a good, fragrance-free cat litter box and place it in a quiet room that’s free of frequent activity. If your cat is litter trained but urinates on the floor, it’s usually either a sign of urinary tract infections, or a dirty litter box.
Sudden change of diet.
Sudden changes in a cat’s diet may result in vomiting, diarrhea, reduced appetite and a sick feline. Your cat should be transitioned slowly from one food to another. Plan on taking at least a week to transition your kitty from one food to another.
Not training them
Just like dogs, cats can be trained. Training your cat will improve your life and theirs, and enhance the bond between you.
For example, you can train them to get off the counter, or not to scratch your furniture!
Forcing them to interact with you
Cats are very independent creatures. They don’t like to be smothered with affection and they need some personal space every now and then.
Storing food in packaging it didn’t originally come in
The food’s original packaging keeps it from going stale and drying out. it’s important to properly store and seal the cat food in an air-tight container so it doesn’t go rancid or lose its useful substances.
Exercise for Cats
Just like dogs, felines need regular exercise to work off extra energy and stay healthy!
The best way to exercise a cat is by making them chase their favorite toys around the house. Interactive toys, like a wand toy with feathers, strings, or other prey-like attachments that evoke a cat’s predatory behavior are an excellent way to keep them fit.
Feeding them milk
Cats are lactose intolerant. In fact, cats will have a stomach problem within ten to twelve hours after consuming it.
Not enough water
Many cats don't like water so they don't drink enough of it. Because of this, they are more prone to developing urinary crystals and even kidney problems. More often than not, this can be prevented simply by adding wet food to your cat's diet. You can even add a little water to your cat’s food. And be sure to keep several water bowls in your home, and move their water bowl to somewhere that isn't alongside their food or litter box.
Ignore their vomiting
Some people think it's ok for a cat to vomit once a week, but it's not. While vomiting a few times a year or an occasional hairball is normal, vomiting once a week means there is a problem, and a vet visit is necessary.
Neglecting Their Dental Hygiene
Like humans, cats need regular dental care. Their teeth are often home to hundreds of bacteria and need to be brushed just like yours do.
Rarely Visiting a Vet
The only way to ensure that your pet is as healthy as they can be is by taking them to the vet for a checkup.
An occasional checkup makes it easy to catch potential problems . You also want to make sure that your pet gets all of their vaccinations.
Expecting a Cat to Not Harm a Smaller Pet
A cat is very likely to kill smaller pets like rabbits, guinea pigs or hamsters because of their natural prey drive.
Bathing Them
Cats are excellent at grooming themselves and they rarely need to be washed. If you decide to wash them, once or twice a year is enough.
Not avoiding hairballs
To avoid the hairballs, you can brush your cat once a day and add more fiber to their diet. High-fiber diet improves the health of a cat’s coat and minimizes shedding.
Declawing them
Declawing is torturous to cats. It would be akin to cutting off our fingers at the last knuckle, leading to pain and mobility issues.

18 Strangest Cat Behaviors Explained. Here is the list of unusual cat behaviors.
Chewing on plastic
If your cat is chewing on plastic, blankets, furniture or other things they shouldn’t be ...chewing on, they may have pica. Cats often get pica from anxiety or disorders in their gut.
Itation of the ears
Ears movement is an indication that your cat is feeling uncomfortable or anxious about something in their environment. If their ears aren’t moving independently and are only slightly pulled back they are alert and listening to what is going on around them.
Not covering Their Litter
In the wild, cats dig a hole when the need to poop. When they are done, they cover it up to hide their scent from predators. If your cat isn’t covering their poop it is best to take them to the vet to eliminate the possibility of a paw injury or urinary tract infection.
knock off everything!
Cats feel their surrounding with their paws which are incredibly sensitive. By knocking things over they satisfy their curiosity, seeing exactly what will happen when they touch something.
Number 10 – Tiger Eyes - narrow pupils. cat's pupil.
This usually stems from their predatory response and they are probably focused on their next bit of prey. This could be because they want to play and have fun with you, or that they have set their sights on a bug to hunt.
Number 9 - Rubbing
As a cat owner, one of the things you would notice the most is how they rub up against you with their head. This behavior is called bunting.
Number 8 - Biting their nails
One of those reasons is keeping their nails clean and short. It could be thought that your furry friend is anxious or has a bad habit. Like people, cats can bite their nails when they are bored or if they feel anxious. And just like people, this can become a bad habit that is difficult to break. You will need to try and find out if your cat is just nervous or if they are bored and need some form of play or entertainment.
Number 7 - Crazy Runs
Your cat may start sprinting around your house or apartment, bouncing off of the walls and furniture without any warning. Naturally, cats can run up to thirty miles per hour and when they are kept indoors all day they energy becomes pent up.
Number 6 – Sleeping on your laptop
cats like the warmth of your laptop. Cats like temperatures of 20 degrees higher than human’s ideal temperature.
Number 5 - Eating your houseplants
Cats bite and chew plants for a variety of reasons. In the wild, indigestion is often cured by eating grass, so if they are feeling a little gassy they may start munching on your plants.
Number 4 – Crazy Legs
Cats sleeping exposing belly. sometimes laying down or sitting with your legs and arms sprawled is incredibly comfortable and relaxing.
Number 3 – 2:00am Cat Calls
Some cats enjoy a little night time singing. This can become extremely annoying, especially when you do not get to laze around all day and sleep like your cat does. There can be quite a few reasons why your cat is howling at night.
Number 2 - Straight from the tap
Generally, cats are not a great fan of water but a running tap seems to be their favorite drinking spot. Running water is clean and free of disease where still water usually contains all kinds of bacteria that may be harmful to your cat.
